The Scotch whisky experience tour Itinerary

We pass through central Scotland and head toward the invisible boundary known as the Highland line on the Scotch whisky experience tour. After crossing this line, we will officially enter into the Southern Highlands. From this point onwards what we will notice is immediately the countryside starts to become pretty spectacular as we travel close by stunning lochs and dramatic hillsides.
Once in the Northern Highlands we will head along the side of Loch Awe and into Argyllshire. There will be some fantastic places for us to stop to create some memorable photos to take home with us. As we work our way closer to Oban we can contemplate our first dram of this tour as we will be stopping at the local distillery for a tour and some tasting.
The tour then takes us onto Kilmartin Glen. This journey will metaphorically take us into the past as we travel an area in which there are over eight hundred ancient monuments, from standing stones, cairns, rock carvings and brochs. Our guide will give as you get a chance to explore some of these ancient sites and will tell you stories of our ancestors from 2000 years ago. Then its onto Kennacraig, where we will board the evening ferry to Islay.

Understanding that people who choose this tour will be whisky enthusiasts – fantastic, but we wish for you to experience more of the geographical areas that we visit. The island of Islay is rich in history and culture, has wonderful empty beaches and great opportunities to see wildlife. We will incorporate all this on your excursion but of course there will be plenty whisky!

On this day we will have many tastings and tours organised for you starting with Lagavulin, a tour and full range tasting. Then onto Ardbeg and finally a look at the Laphroaig maltings with a few extra special drams to end our day.

This day we will be taken to Bruichladdich. Not only do they make incredible whisky but they have a lovely Gin for you to start your day (as they say “the sun is always over the YardSomewhere”).  You’ll then get a to see the independent distillery of Kilchoman and finally onto Bunnahabhain with a final sample of this incredible peaty whisky.

On the last day of  your Scottish travel tour we are back on the ferry heading for the mainland. We make our way onto the lovely village of Inveraray. You will have time to explore and have lunch. The journey now takes us through some beautiful countryside as hug the shores of Loch Fyne and Loch Long before crossing the mountain pass known as the “Rest and be Thankful”.
The bonnie banks of Loch Lomond are next as we stop at the village of Luss. This is our final stop before returning you to your hotel but also a chance to grab your last dram at the local pub before heading back and ending the Scotch whisky experience tour.
